Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Paid Advisory Visit to AUI Nursing Department
In a significant development for Augustine University, officials from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) paid an advisory visit to the Institution on Wednesday, 7th February 2024.
The NMCN delegation, led by the Head of Nursing Programme, Lagos State University College of Medicine, Dr. Bola Ofi, was warmly received by the University Management at the Senate Chamber.
According to Dr. Ofi, the visit to the University is part of the Council’s efforts in ensuring highest standards in nursing and midwifery education.
In his welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christopher Odetunde expressed joy and optimism that the visit would bring a heart-warming outcome.
He thanked the Council for their passionate commitment in promoting and maintaining excellence in the Nursing and Midwifery education in Nigeria.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria is a body charged with the responsibility of approving and regulating the Nursing and Midwifery education in Nigeria. Their visit was to evaluate the Department’s adherence to industry standards, curriculum effectiveness, and overall compliance with regulatory guidelines.
This advisory visit comes on the heels of the National Universities Commission’s (NUC) recent approval, conveyed through a letter dated 14th June 2023, granting Augustine University the approval to offer Nursing program, effective from the 2023/2024 Academic Session.
Present at the meeting include the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Anthony Akinwale, OP, the Registrar, Mrs. Margaret Aziba, Acting Bursar, Mrs. Mary Ajibulu, Principal Librarian, Mr. Adeyinka Oshilalu, Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Adelodun Kolapo, and Head of Department, Nursing Science.
