Augustine University’s Mass Communication Department Hosts Farewell and MCSA Inauguration Event
The Mass Communication Department at Augustine University recently bid farewell to its outgoing Head of Department, Professor Oloruntola Abraham Sunday, in a heartfelt farewell party held on the 27th of March, 2024. The event, which also marked the inauguration of the Mass Communication Students Association (MCSA), was a memorable affair attended by students, faculty members, and distinguished guests.
Among the notable dignitaries present were Very Reverend Father Professor Anthony Akinwale, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor; Mrs. Margaret Aziba, the Registrar; Professor Joseph Omoregbe, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Management, and Social Sciences; Dr. (Mrs.) Obayiuwana Amara, Dean of Student Affairs; and other faculty officers and staff.
Heartfelt farewell messages were delivered, expressing gratitude and admiration for Professor Sunday’s dedication and contribution to the department. Father Akinwale emphasised the importance of fostering friendships and wished Professor Sunday success in his future endeavours. A touching video message from the Vice-Chancellor, although absent, conveyed his appreciation for Professor Sunday’s service and encouraged him to continue his exemplary work.
Mrs. Margaret Aziba praised Professor Sunday’s passion and zeal, while Professor Joseph Omoregbe fondly recalled their past interactions and wished him well. Other speakers, including Mr Okodua and Miss Ajuka Agatha, commended Professor Sunday’s cheerful spirit and humility.
Representatives from each academic level and the department’s lecturers shared their sentiments, underscoring Professor Sunday’s impact and legacy within the University community.
A token of appreciation was presented to Professor Sunday on behalf of the department by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, acknowledging his invaluable service and commitment.
