AUI’s FACUSSA Launches 2024 Health Week with Informative Symposium
The Faculty of Science Students Association (FACUSSA), Augustine University, Ilara-Epe has kicked off its 2024 Health Week with a compelling symposium focused on health-related matters.
The event took place on Tuesday, 15th May, 2024, at the University Convocation Hall, drawing students and faculty members for an engaging session on the importance of maintaining good health practices.
The symposium featured a keynote address by Principal Nursing Officer, Rev. Sr. Rose Bambe, who highlighted the critical need for students to adopt healthy eating habits and steer clear of drug abuse and misuse.
According to her, a healthy diet is not just about staying in shape but about fueling the body with the right nutrients to enhance cognitive functions and overall well-being, which is essential for academic success.
Adding to the discourse, a lecturer from the Department of Biological Sciences, Dr. Adaobi Nwose delved deeper into the benefits of balanced diets and regular physical exercise.
Dr. Nwose pointed out that proper nutrition and physical activity are not only vital for maintaining physical health but also play a significant role in boosting mental clarity and academic performance.
The FACUSSA 2024 Health Week, which runs until 18th May, 2024 includes a series of events aimed at promoting health and wellness among the student body.
FACUSSA President, Mr. Ebube Oluoma, expressed his enthusiasm about the week-long event, emphasizing that the goal is to create awareness and encourage our peers to prioritize their health.
The agenda of the FACUSSA Health Week 2024 includes an Inter-Faculty football match, free medical screenings and tests, various games, and numerous interactive activities designed to educate and engage students on health matters.
