Department of Mass Communication Hosts Farewell Celebration for Corps Member

The Department of Mass Communication and Media Studies, Augustine University, on Monday, 18th March, 2024, held an emotional celebration to bid farewell to Miss Salihu Omoh Mariam, a dedicated corps member who had also functioned as the department secretary for the previous year. Students, and staff gathered for the departure celebration, which served as a means of saying goodbye and thanking the corps member for her services.
Professor Oloruntola Sunday, the Head of Department, gave the introductory remarks at the ceremony, praising Salihu’s devotion and hard work. The course representatives was then allowed to offer their thoughts on her tenure with the department.
Students used the occasion to pay acknowledgement to her, emphasizing how she served as a comfort and a source of support for students. They praised her calm behaviour and urged others to follow her example of kindness and simplicity. Faculty members also shared their admiration, emphasizing her unique qualities and diligent work ethic. Dr. John commended her readiness to take on any task with enthusiasm and without complaint, portraying her as a valuable asset to the department.
The event concluded with heartfelt closing remarks from Miss Salihu, expressing gratitude to all attendees for their support and solidarity. Additionally, the lecturers in the department demonstrated their appreciation by contributing financially and presenting Miss Salihu with a farewell gift as a token of gratitude for her service. The farewell party served as an emotional reminder of the impact she had on the Augustine University community, leaving behind fond memories and best wishes for her future endeavours.
