AUI Celebrates 2024 Women’s Day in Grand Style
In a celebration filled with empowerment, education, and entertainment, Augustine University, Ilara-Epe marked International Women’s Day with grandeur and significance.
The event which was held on Friday, 8th March, 2024 at the Convocation Hall, saw a diverse range of activities aimed at recognizing the achievements of women and promoting their well-being.
Speaking at the event, the Registrar, Mrs. Margaret Aziba, delivered a powerful message on the dignity of womanhood.
She emphasized the fact that for women to maintain their dignity, they need to cultivate self-esteem, self-love, self-worth, self-care, self-value, and self-appreciation.
Mrs. Aziba also stressed the significance of helping the needy and utilizing virtues to maintain dignity.
The highlight of the celebration was an informative session on women’s health and well-being, with a specific focus on breast health and the prevention and battle against breast cancer.
The session was facilitated by the Principal Nursing Officer of the University, Rev Sis Rose Bambe, who shared valuable insights on maintaining good health practices and early detection of breast cancer.
The celebration also featured a short screening of a video featuring insights from Michelle Obama, who shared her thoughts on the importance of women in society and their contributions to positive change.
The programme further included music, dance performances, and a captivating stage performance, adding an element of entertainment to the occasion.
Attendees were treated to a delightful array of refreshments, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and celebration. Additionally, a photography session allowed participants to capture the memorable moments of the event.
The festivities concluded with a Thanksgiving Mass at the Mini Chapel of the University, expressing gratitude for the achievements and contributions of women within the AUI community and beyond.
